HYPSTAR— A new hyperspectral radiometer system has been installed in the Chesapeake Bay to monitor water quality and help validate satellite observations.
The WATERHYPERNET network has expanded to Australia with the successful installation of a HYPSTAR system at the Lucinda Jetty Coastal Observatory in May 2026, in collaboration with CSIRO and Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS).
The first long-term WATERHYPERNET prototype deployment was made at Acqua Alta Oceanogaphic Tower in September 2019 in collaboration with CNR. One year later the equipment is still functioning, providing data every day.
